Established in 1951, The Ohio Eastern Star Home is a vibrant, independent, nonprofit retirement community. It is the only Eastern Star home in the state of Ohio, and one of only 10 Eastern Star homes in the United States.
The Ohio Eastern Star Home rests on 60 picturesque acres of land in Mount Vernon, Ohio. This continuing care retirement community includes independent living apartments, assisted living suites, skilled nursing unites, and an Alzheimer's/Dementia unit. Other amenities include a large dining room, beautiful chapel, therapy room, gift shop, picnic shelter house, and numerous gardens. The campus also includes the administrative offices for Star Home Health Services and The Glenn A. Gallagher Centre.
The high level of quality and compassionate care provided at The Ohio Eastern Star Home was verified by recent independent survey results indicating that 99% of our residents would recommend our facility to others, and our overall satisfaction rating was above 90%. The Ohio Eastern Star Home is also the only retirement facility in Knox County that has been certified by the Join Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Joint Commission accreditation proves an organization is committed to the highest level of patient safety and care, and has met the highest and most rigorous performance standards.
The Ohio Eastern Star Home continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the residents as well as to stay competitive compared to other long-term care facilities. In 2013, seven new assisted living suites opened to help address the increased demand for assisted living. These assisted living suites strengthen our ability to provide continuing care. When residents of the assisted living suites need more care, they can transition to a skilled nursing care room.
